Vintage Wedding Photos

If you are like 50% of all single white Americans that grew up in the 1990s, then you owned a 35mm camera. This camera was nothing special compared to today's advanced digital point and shoots, but for an affordable price, you could take 24 pictures, with or without flash, and put the undeveloped roll into a drawer to be forgotten. This is my testament.

My wife and I both have several rolls of undeveloped film sitting in a drawer. This morning she declared that she would take them to be developed. I would get to pick them up, but I had to promise not to look at them until I returned, so we would both see these long forgotten memories together.

As I checked out, the total for 5 rolls came to $50. I explained the situation to the photo clerk, and picked one package, at random, as I was only willing to spend $10 on what could possibly be pictures of me with an ex-girlfriend.

Turns out they were of my wife's high school teacher's wedding.

Notice how happy she is that a non-professional digital slr is being used to take her precious photos. (sarcasm).

Since I mostly get video jobs for weddings, I have not officially done photography for a wedding, so I will not point out flaws and boast about what I would do better. Instead, I wanted to share these photos taken by an unknown photographer because of the style that came straight out of the camera. Notice the blacks are all green. That's the camera. Most people now-days use hipstamatic on their iphone, or color correct in photoshop to get this very popular vintage style. 

To be cliche, a picture is worth a thousand words. But no picture is worth paying $0.29 for when you didn't take it, or it isn't of you or someone you know. 

It will remain a mystery as to how these pictures ended up in our sock drawer. It will remain a mystery as to what was on the other rolls that I was the photographer for. I'm Garrett Moldrem, I am a freelance photographer, and this is my testament.

With chaos in Egypt that will likely spread to other middle eastern countries, it is somewhat vain to focus on business and photography. Nations rise and nations fall, but the Truth remains. This is my testament.

I want to avoid saying, "I'm starting this pattern where I take photos and upload them every month and you get to see the results." Because despite the lack of online photo blogs, I don't really want to make a commitment that I'm not sure I'll keep.

I wanted to start making short films that were exactly 2 minutes each that had some sort of obvious theme. Here is the first:

I'm very excited to make the next one eventually, but like I said, the problem is creating a deadline for being creative. This is not a client's deadline, this is me in my freetime, so words like "eventually" or "perhaps" get used a lot. So perhaps this is a series of photos from the past few days, and eventually there will be more. 

Taste and see that the LORD is good. This is my testament.
